Apple Cinnamon French Toast Bake

Prep Time: 15 min. + 8 hrs. in Fridge
Cook Time: 45 min.
Serves: 8-10

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb round loaf country-style bread, cut, or torn into 1-inch chunks (day old is best)
  • 3 apples, thinly sliced, then chopped
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups Cass-Clay® Milk
  • 1 cup Cass-Clay Sour Cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • powdered sugar, if desired
  • maple syrup, if desired

How To:

  1. Butter a 13×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Add half of the bread. Top with apples.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Sprinkle over apples.
  5. Top with the remaining bread.
  6. In a large bowl, beat the eggs, milk, sour cream, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  7. Pour over the bread.
  8. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  9. Heat the oven to 350˚F.
  10. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes until golden brown and set. Let it stand for 5 minutes.
  11. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with maple syrup. Refrigerate leftovers.

 

TIP: For a festive flair, sprinkle pomegranate seeds over the top of the baked French toast.
